What is laser cleaning?

Laser cleaning is a technology that uses high-energy-density laser beams to remove contaminants, coatings, or unwanted materials from solid or liquid surfaces. Its academic name is “Laser Ablation“.

Specifically, laser cleaning achieves cleaning in the following two ways:

1. Vaporization or sublimation of contaminants: The laser energy is focused on the surface of the contaminant, causing it to absorb energy and quickly heat up and vaporize, thereby separating from the substrate.

2. Destroying the bonding force between the contaminant and the substrate: The high-energy laser pulse can destroy the chemical bond or physical adhesion between the contaminant and the substrate, thereby removing the contaminant.
